Model Portfolio Photography Advice and Guidelines |
|
What are our portfolios?
A top quality portfolio (model book) is the single most important investment you will make in your career. It consists of a collection of photographs designed to show your potential as a model. These should include a range of poses, looks and styles to give variety to your portfolio rather than lots of similar looking shots of one pose. Our portfolios offer this variety and are a wonderful way of getting you noticed. Obviously a portfolio produced by a professional model photographer will have greater impact than an amateurishly produced one. We digitally hand print your images onto special paper to give a beautiful and eye-catching look and then bind them into a portfolio cover for a truly professional look.
How do I book? Give us a call (01484 722462) or click below to arrange a suitable time and discuss any ideas you may have.
Do you photograph men as well as women? Yes. Our portfolio sessions are ideal for men as well as women. Whilst some of these guidelines are obviously aimed at women the majority are equally applicable. Please ask if you need any help.
How do I pose? What images do I need?
Don’t worry we will guide you throughout the photo shoot to bring out your best potential. Whilst we will suggest images for you, we are delighted to work to your ideas if you would like. Our photography has no rules other than to create great images. We love to work with people and capture their individuality and style in unique and excitingly different images. After initial discussions, we will take a number of photographs covering a variety of poses. These will show as much variation as possible. Please ring if you are unsure about anything, we are happy to advise.
What do I wear?
Remember you want your pictures to stand out, so the more eye-catching your clothes are the better. Make sure the clothing is a good fit. Be sure to bring a good mix of colours and styles, we will advise you what photographs best. Ideally bring a dark and a light outfit, matching underwear and some accessories such as hats, scarves etc. Please wear loose clothing and no tight underwear before the session to avoid strap marks.
What about hair and makeup?
Bring combs, brushes, straighteners, hair spray etc. that you normally use for touch ups. Practice changing your hairstyle to give different looks. Makeup for photography needs to be darker & stronger than normal. Bring makeup with you. The price does not include a makeover, but it can be provided, at an extra cost of £35 (bookings to be made in advance).
Can I have nude or semi nude pictures?
Of course. We photograph models clothed, semi clothed and nude it’s your choice. An unbuttoned shirt or naked under some fine fabric can look great too. To avoid leaving marks please avoid wearing tight clothes/underwear prior to the shoot.
