How do I book? Give us a call (01484 722462) click below to arrange a suitable time and discuss any ideas you may have.
What happens during the studio session?
After an initial meeting, where we discuss what style of images you would like, we will spend around an hour photographing you in a variety of poses, There is no limit on how many we will take so we are more than happy to work with any ideas you may have. We are always working on new ideas and many people just let us take the lead. The whole session is very relaxed with plenty of time for you to get the best out of the poses. There are no rules other than to create great pictures.
Will I look good? I’m awkward in front of the camera.
We ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable time in the studio. Guiding you through every stage of the posing means you can just relax, have fun and make the most of your studio time. Some people are worried about a particular part of their body such as teeth, nose etc or feel they have never had a good photograph taken. Please discuss this with us before the session and we can then work to overcome your concerns and produce images you’ll love. People are often nervous when they arrive at the studio, but you will soon settle in and by the end of the session will have enjoyed the experience.
What happens if my children play up?
We try and make the session a fun time for children. We know that some children are shy, whilst others can be very boisterous so don’t be embarrassed if your child plays up a bit. We have photographed thousands of children and are used to their ways. Our experience and patience allows us to bring out the best in children. With young children it is important not to tell them to smile, which usually gives a false expression. We will play with children so that the smiles are real ones. Please bring some favorite toys with you.
My teenagers think the whole idea is very uncool!
Teenagers love to be photographed as they are rather than being forced into what they think of as uncool poses. By exploiting their ideas (most teenagers are into fashion, music, sport etc) in the images they soon realize that this is not some old fashioned studio portrait, but an exciting photo shoot! See Teenager page.
Can I include other family members?
Of course. Extended families are welcome. The only limit is fitting you all in the studio. When photographing extended families we will usually take a variety of groupings of the whole family plus each separate family unit.
Can I include the family pet?
Yes, a well behaved pet is no problem. We can also photograph your pet on its own.
What do I wear for my photography session?
Whatever you feel good in. Smart casual is the most usual, jeans photograph well. If in doubt bring a choice of outfits or contact us and we will advise which will work best. We have changing facilities. Eye catching clothes and accessories will give us more opportunity to create striking and different images.
My children are sport mad, can I make that a theme of the pictures?
We are happy to use a theme which is important to you and your family such as sport or music. We will of course take some photographs without the theme to give you a wide variety of images.
I like black & white, is there an extra charge?
No. We can take black & white (or sepia) as well as colour at no extra charge.
How much does it cost and how do I choose which portraits I would like?
The studio photo shoot costs £50. This is for up to one hour in the studio. All prints are extra. At the end of your session you will be offered a viewing appointment to return and select your portraits. We will project your images on a large screen. At this first viewing we offer special prices and savings off the list price. The list price of our portraits applies to all orders placed after the first viewing.
We’ll help you create a shortlist of your favourites and to choose frames and mount styles to suit your taste and personal style and of course your home. There are many framed examples hanging on our studio walls to inspire you. The size and frame choice is entirely your decision and an experienced Lords staff member will offer guidance on size, frame styles and presentation. Then we’ll bring your images to life using only the best materials, technicians and craftsmen. The selection process is always an exciting, enjoyable, decision making time.
We offer a wide range of enlargement options starting at £79 (see special offer). Our wall portraits are supplied custom framed and the price range is from £179 to £999. We also have beautiful stretched, frameless canvasses which range in price from £499 to £899. Click here for more details of our range
