Is it unusual to have a portrait when pregnant? No! We regularly shoot pregnancy portraits. Because we have been photographing maternity portraits for a number of years you can be sure you’ll have a great time and will love the finished portraits. When is the best time for pregnancy portraits? From 34 weeks onwards works best, the bigger the bump the better! What happens during the studio session?
After an initial meeting, where we discuss what style of images you would like, we will spend around an hour photographing you in a variety of poses, There is no limit on how many we will take so we are more than happy to work with any ideas you may have. We are always working on new ideas and many women just let us take the lead. The whole session is very relaxed with plenty of time to get the best out of the poses.
Will I look good? I’m awkward in front of the camera.
We ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable time in the studio. Guiding you through every stage of the posing means you can just relax make the most of this special time. The majority of pregnant women have some stretch marks and broken veins, but with careful lighting and some cosmetic retouching of the images you can be assured you’ll look great!
Can I include my partner and/or children?
Of course. Your partner can be included in some of the pictures. Children are more than welcome, but they may be a distraction if you were wanting some quiet personal images of yourself. If you are coming on your own it’s a good idea to bring someone with you for moral support (mum, sister, friend etc).
What do I wear for my photography session?
Whatever you feel best in. If in doubt bring a choice of outfits and we will advise which will work best. We have changing facilities. We find that plain black or white work very well. Obviously we need to see your bump so a plain white shirt or a cropped top are a good idea.
Will I have to be nude?
No! It’s your photo shoot, so we do whatever you feel comfortable with. We photograph women clothed, semi clothed and nude it’s your choice. An unbuttoned shirt allows your bump to be seen or naked under some fine fabric looks wonderful. To avoid leaving marks please avoid wearing tight clothes/underwear across your tummy prior to the shoot.
How much does it cost and how do I choose which portraits I would like?
The studio photo shoot costs £50. Included in this price is a free, framed portrait, size 7”x5”. Bump to baby package We also offer bump to baby package. This comprises of two studio sessions, one pregnant and one with your new born baby. By combining images from both sessions we can make some stunning presentations. The price is £75 including one free 10”x8” framed portrait.
At the end of your session you will be offered a viewing appointment to return and select your portraits. We will project your images on a large screen. At this first viewing we offer special prices and savings off the list price. The list price of our portraits applies to all orders placed after the first viewing.
We’ll help you create a shortlist of your favourites and to choose frames and mount styles to suit your taste and personal style and of course your home. There are many framed examples hanging on our studio walls to inspire you. The size and frame choice is entirely your decision and an experienced Lords staff member will offer guidance on size, frame styles and presentation. Then we’ll bring your images to life using only the best materials, technicians and craftsmen. The selection process is always an exciting, enjoyable, decision making time.
